About

Ned Kelly GPS Tours has been co-developed by Simon Mauger of www.GPSdiscovery.com.au, Brad Webb of www.ironoutlaw.com and Noelene Allen, a Beechworth local and former co-ordinator of the Beechworth Historic Precinct.

The Ned Kelly GPS Tour utilises a custom GPS discovery Kiosk and portable GPS platform to deliver a very personalised touring experience.

Each GPS discovery tour combines this unique technology with the expert knowledge of a Content Partner bringing the story to life.

Simon Mauger
After 15 years in full time practice as a Chiropractor, Simon decided it was time for a change and set about developing GPS discovery.  It had long been a vision of his to revolutionise the way we travelled...the advances in GPS technology, and his increasing involvement with IT solutions lead to the development of his GPS based touring system.
Simon now practices part time in Kangaroo Ground, but devotes the majority of his time to creating new GPS tours and experiences.

The Ned Kelly story is of particular personal interest to Simon as he shares a very close link to the story.  Simon's great, great Uncle was Aaron Sherritt and since very young he has enjoyed a keen interest in the Kelly story.  It is with absolute pleasure that one of the first available tours through GPS discovery is the Ned Kelly GPS Tour!

Brad Webb
Trained as a graphic designer and typographer with over twenty years industry experience, Brad has worked for a number of blue chip Australian companies including the AFL, Australian Red Cross, and Vision Victoria producing a range of advertising services from award winning annual reports to over seeing some of the country's most successful web sites including ironoutlaw.com which attracts over 300,000 visitors a year (that's 8.5 million hits). Complementing his industry experience, Brad taught at James Cook University's live work studio RossDesign in Townsville for four years, and offers his services at the RMIT School of Advertising in Melbourne. In his spare time (when not sleeping) Brad is currently completing a Master of Publishing and Editing at Monash University.

Noelene Allen
A move to Beechworth 11 years ago saw a real change in direction for Noelene who had owned and operated Noelene’s Sports Store in Tamworth for 10 years before joining Coles Myer where she managed Fosseys Department Stores in Northern NSW and Queensland. A car accident forced a change in her career path and for the next five years she taught Retail Studies and Small Business Management at the Mid North Coast Institute of TAFE. The Beechworth Historic & Cultural Precinct was in its infancy in 1999 when Noelene joined the band of Precinct Volunteers.  Her appointment to the position of Precinct Co-ordinator in 2003 included the responsibility to coordinate the annual Ned Kelly Weekend. The 2005 event which saw the Great Debate bring many people to Beechworth is still a highlight.

Noelene retired in 2009 but continues her interest in the women of the Kelly family.  Ellen Kelly’s story is told with passion and honesty when Noelene attends functions throughout Victoria.
